Essential oils and summer hair masks
Our hair, as well as our scalp, tends to get damaged due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Like skin, hair becomes dry and usually appears more fragile and dull. Seawater and sunlight reduce its lipid component, facilitating breakage and the appearance of split ends. On the other hand, the sun also brings great benefits: it helps synthesize vitamin D, which stimulates growth and regulates sebum production for those with oily hair. A sunbath is also good for your mood, just protect your head with a scarf or a hat and be careful to nourish your hair with practical, quick, and fragrant packs! Various carrier oils can be used to prepare the pack. Olive oil is a great resource for nourishing and health for both skin and hair, although the smell may not be too pleasant. Jojoba Oil, as well as Coconut Oil and flaxseed oil, are also perfect for those with excess sebum. Jojoba oil has a composition very compatible with our skin, which is why it is absorbed quickly. Another particularly effective base to enrich with essential oils is Aloe Vera Gel (100% aloe), which makes hair shiny and healthy, fighting dandruff and hair loss. Some essential oils to create summer packs, aimed at soothing sun damage to the skin and nourishing and revitalizing the hair are: Atlantic Cedar, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Lavender, Chamomile, Mint, Rosemary, Basil. Chamomile: it is the most powerful soothing agent for the skin and hair. Its properties act on cells inflamed by chemical treatments, sun, and seawater. It prevents split ends and makes hair shiny. Geranium: it is particularly suitable for dry, frizzy hair with split ends. It nourishes the ends and protects against external agents such as smog. Ylang Ylang: it is a soothing and toning agent, it regulates the fatigue of combination/oily skin. It is a nourishing and protective oil, ideal for facing saltiness, wind, and sun. Lavender: fights alopecia, dandruff, and irritations. It restores shine to the hair and counteracts hair loss. Basil, Mint, Rosemary: these are dermo-purifying oils, which thoroughly cleanse the skin and regularize it, combating dandruff and scalp infections. They stimulate scalp circulation, promoting the correct supply of nutrients and proper hair growth. Thanks to blood irrigation, they prevent hair loss. An excellent product for hair care is Rosemary Hydrolate, a derivative of the extraction process. The aromatic water possesses all the properties of the essential oil; its dilution makes it ready for use. It can be stored in the fridge and sprayed on the body and hair.
